We have several events throughout the year to provide both prospective students and their families opportunities to learn more about IB.
Each year, we host an IB Rendezvous for freshmen and sophomores to learn more about IB. This is a student run event where current IB students invite interested freshmen and sophomores to the library in a social setting answer questions about IB.
We also have different opportunities for prospective IB students to learn about the IB program from the IB coordinator and current students throughout the months of December and January as we start enrollment discussions at school.
We host two evening informational meetings for prospective students and their families, one in November and one in January. These meetings are designed to give more information about what IB is, why it's beneficial, how to get involved and how it compares to other programs that offer college level coursework for potential college credit.
We also offer an informational session at our Future Cougar Night (our annual eighth-grade orientation night). Information about that meeting will be posted on this website.
Individual meetings with parents and students are also possible. Please Amy Walker SM Northwest IB Coordinator, at amywalker@smsd.org, if you would like to pursue that option.
Would you like to come for a School Visit?
Sometimes making a personal visit to the school is important in the process of deciding if IB is the right program for you. Amy Walker, SM Northwest IB Coordinator, conducts regular meetings and tours of the school for prospective students and parents. Transfer Information
If you are transferring from another SM School or wish to transfer from another district located within the State of Kansas, transfers must be submitted to the Director of Secondary Services at the Shawnee Mission Administration Building.
